Ethanol Mandate Lies
Ethanol Mandate Lies
It’s never easy when you find that you’ve been lied to,
but it’s that much more painful when the lie comes from someone you should have
trusted. Such is the case in my home state of Maryland, but it isn’t much
comfort to find out that we aren’t alone in our plight.
In 2007 the George Bush Administration pushed the ethanol
mandate on us at first as a program of security, claiming it was in our best
interest to decrease our dependency on foreign oil by mixing corn based ethanol
with gasoline to achieve a government based goal.
We have basically two mixtures available in large scale
in the United States. E10 is a 90% gasoline 10% ethanol mixture and E85 is 15%
gasoline 85% ethanol. I have explained the detrimental effects of any ethanol
blends in the past, but as you can imagine, the higher the ethanol content the worse
the effects become. E85 can only be run in vehicles that are specifically
manufactured to run such fuels commonly known as “Flex Fuel” vehicles.
When President Bush started this ethanol mandate it began
as just for government owned vehicles but quickly expanded to a mandated
program for all gasoline burning vehicles in the USA. By 2011 80% of America
was burning some sort of ethanol blended fuel.
There are many problems associated with ethanol based fuels, but the largest is that ethanol attracts moisture (water in the air) in
an unsealed fuel system such as lawn equipment and small engines that vent
their gas tanks directly to the atmosphere. Water was never designed to be
burned by internal combustion engines and even in small percentages can destroy
I first noticed drivability problems in my cars and
massive problems with my lawn equipment as far back as 6 years ago as it takes
a little while for the detrimental effects to show. Last year I had to rebuild
three carburetors on my small engines and I had to flush the gas tank in one of
The latest trend if continued is for the government to
move to an E15 fuel even though multiple automobile manufacturers have already
told the government if E15 comes to the market place it will void warranties.
Undaunted the government is moving forward on this mandate regardless of what
the manufacturers of internal combustion engines tell them.
Enough about the political end of this football…….let’s
talk about the lies to us the consumer. I’ll talk about Maryland first. In 2005
the “Renewable Fuels Act” was signed into law by Gov. Robt. Ehrlich formed from
State Senate bill 740. Like the federal bill it started as a mandate that
government vehicles had to run blended fuels. Sadly it morphed into a program
that offered monetary incentives to fuel suppliers to blend ethanol into
gasoline. But here is where the lies began. I can’t find out when this changed
or if it was from the beginning, but in Maryland and 14 other states it’s ok to
lie to the consumer and NOT have to place E10 stickers on the gas pumps whose
fuel contains ethanol. In other words it’s ok to tell you the fuel doesn’t have
ethanol when in fact it does! Let that sink in a moment.
California, District of Columbia - DC, Indiana - In, Kansas - KS, Kentucky -KY,
* New Hampshire - NH - New Jersey - NJ, Ohio - OH.
This is a list of the states that can legally lie to you
about the content of your fuel that you buy for your vehicle. Each state seems
to have its own bizarre rules on fuel reporting, but the really distressing
part of all this is, that unless we pressure our State Legislatures to force gas
stations to be truthful about the content of their fuels, we could have E15
forced on us with NO notice!
I called and talked to a HUGE local fuel supplier with
close to 100 gas stations in the Maryland Area and he confirmed what I had
suspected. The legislature from the very beginning has NOT required them to
mark gas pumps as to their content from day one in 2005, so this lie has been
going on now in Maryland for 11 years! The gas stations on their own may choose
to mark them or not, sadly making them just as complicit in this fraud perpetrated
on the people of Maryland as our state legislature. Customers have for the last
11 years had been led to think they are buying ethanol free fuel when in fact
Go here to
read more about the massive lies being perpetrated on us by our state
governments. Send this article to your state lawmakers and ask WHY they have
seen fit to allow the lies to continue (11 years in Maryland.) Maybe your state
has been lying to you even longer.
to find your state legislators and ask them why this is allowed
Fifties something guy, with a political view, but not in your face with it. Don't ask my opinion about politics if you don't want it, but I don't start conversations about it when meeting you for the first time. I have so many interests, that I don't pigeon hole into one catagory. I have written a book, and been published, it's about the care I gave my parents in their last years, it's a story of love, care, and dedication.
“Even sadder that so many of us are so blind and stupid, just living our lives daily and letting "smarter" people 'run' our lives."
"Thank God for people like you.”
“This is so horrible....how can one be so advanced and so naive at the same time..”
“Well if you were a politician, you would have my vote. I have a great deal of respect for intelligence...especially when I agree with most of your thoughts, almost visions."
"So many things 'we' stood for are getting lost and no one seems to be taking notice.”
"Your ideas, and thoughts are well researched, great job!"
"I really felt like you are really ‘in tune’ to what is really happening…so I ‘depend’ on your wisdom.. "
"Thanks for sharing all your findings Al. You have been such a big help with my decision. I knew in my heart that McCain should be our leader, but you sure made me all the more convinced…and the people I have forwarded your emails to feel the same way, I’m sure. I still think you ought to ‘run’ for an office, open some eyes around here"
I just want to thank you for being such a great American. I have always been interested in politics but now that I have a son, I really am quite interested. And to be honest, I really feel for him and what he is going to have to put up with in the future. My one saving grace is the fact that when I was his age we also had an awful President in office and fortunately the Great Ronald Reagan came riding in on his horse to save us. Hopefully in 2012 someone will come swooping in and save us. I appreciate the posts that you put on letting the world know of the crimes that most of the press won't let the world see. Well I am just in one of those moods tonight and I am rambling on but I just wanted to thank you. I would always love to get more involved in politics and if there is ever a place that you think I could come in and help please don't hesitate to ask.

My Personal Beliefs ( so you know where I'm coming from)
I believe, that the United States of America is the best country in the world bar none.
I believe, the founding fathers wrote the Constitution of our country based on their belief in Christianity, and encouraged the practice of all religions but not at the expense of the others.
I believe, the Supreme Court should interpret the Constitution and not legislate from the bench.
I believe, the Constitution is a legal document, and not a living document subjected to constant change.
I believe, the course to peace is based on strong military, strong principles, and not a pacifist denial approach.
I believe, the second amendment is the right of every citizen in our country, and people not guns are the cause of murder.
I believe, in the death penalty as a form of public compliance to our laws.
I believe, a declared “hate crime” should not just be limited to describe the victimization of one race, or religion, but should be applied equally.
I believe, taxes are necessary to run our country and benefit our citizens, and not to give to foreign governments to “buy” friendships.
I believe, the government should have no right to tax a dead man’s estate on money he has already paid taxes on.
I believe, the President should have the power of the Line Item Veto.
I believe, that Senator’s and Congressmen should have term limits the same as the other elected officials.
I believe, that Senators and Congressmen should eliminate the word “entitlements” from their vocabulary.
I believe, that taxation in our country is disproportionate according to annual salaries, and serves to polarize citizens within the system.
I believe, “Affirmative Action” is neither affirmative nor action, and should be eliminated, as it’s just another form of prejudice.
I believe, that “pork barrel” or “earmarks” should be eliminated, as they are detrimental to budgetary constraints of our country.
I believe, in a balanced budget amendment with the exception of a declaration of war.
I believe, that if it’s so easy to raise hundreds of millions of dollars for a Presidential Position that pays $400K a year, then the amount raised should be taxed.
I believe, in governing our own country, and never handing power of a New World Order to the United Nations for any treaty.
I believe, to insure the safety of our citizens, we need to secure our borders and enforce existing immigration, and hiring laws.
I believe, that English should be formally declared our official language, and should be used in business dealings at home, and English should be taught in school systems to mainstream students.
I believe, that immigrants to our country should be made to assimilate to our culture, and not the other way around.
I believe, global warming is a reality, but to declare that man made emissions are the main cause, based primarily on computer based models, is akin to believing that weathermen can predict next week’s weather based on a “preponderance of evidence.”
There is one areas I don't agree with the official Republican Platform:
I believe in Gay, and Lesbian Rights
I do not believe in same sex marriage though
I want to welcome everyone to my blog site. Everything you see is my opinion only. As we all know some sources are better then others, and when I see them as questionable, or open for conjecture, I back them up with another source. However, unfortunately, sometimes even these sources can be wrong, and if that is the case, I apologize. When researching a subject, my aim is to find the truth, and the facts and links to back it up. I don't take a position lightly, I research first and form an opinion from the collection of facts. I hope you enjoy the fruits of my research, because not everyone can devote the time to do this.......... because this work represents hours of time invested, if you copy and paste an article please insert a link back to my blog.
