Al Ritter
I must
admit that Charlie Kirk’s death has affected me profoundly. Although I was just
9 when Kennedy was killed it didn’t mean much to me at such a young age. Of
course, later it carried much more weight.
Charlie
Kirk was one who lived for debate, and to be very honest he often went into the
lion’s den to do so. He debated with patience and respect, but sadly that
respect wasn’t normally reciprocated by those who sought to debate him. How
many people’s minds did he change? Who really knows. But his positions were
normally based on his faith in God and the teachings of the Bible.
The
leftist views were diametrically opposed to everything Kirk debated on, from religion
to same sex marriage, to immigration, to crime, to transgenderism. In fact, the
transgender issue was the very debate he was doing the second he was struck
down by an assassin’s bullet and is now considered a contributing factor from
the shooter’s perspective.
It’s sad
that political discourse has now devolved into a death sentence for anyone who
disagrees with the leftist position. The celebration of Kirk’s death is
disgusting to say the least, but sadly this is what our First Amendment is all
about. It’s not the things that you agree with that are protected, but those
you see as vile and disgusting also.
Do I agree
with all these firings because of the celebrations of his death? IMO no they
shouldn’t be fired, shamed unmercifully maybe, but fired no.
For the
first time the leftists are trying to claim a cease fire on the grounds that
both sides are participating in violent rhetoric. That is not true and I would
challenge anyone to supply proof to that wild claim.
In a
Yougov poll it claimed that 25% of those on the “very left” claim that violence
is the answer to political upheaval, while only 5% of those on the right
approve of such tactics.
What
actually happened after Kirk’s death? Were there riots? Was there looting? Of
course not, there were vigils and fond remembrances. Not like the trashing by
leftists of an area of the University where flowers were left to commemorate
his life.
As I said
in my previous article, the words from Admiral Yamamoto of the Japanese Navy
after the attack on Pearl Harbor… “I feel all we have done is awaken a sleeping
giant.”
If Kirk’s
death has done anything, it has concreted a resolve in Conservative America to
vanquish the hatred and violence of the left.
Even
Whoopi Goldberg is starting to see that the left’s violent nature has to stop,
I wonder if she sees that that same anger if pushed hard enough can come back to
the left also?
I pray
this doesn’t happen and this country can return to some sort of civility, but
I’m not seeing that yet!

Rest In Peace Charlie Kirk and those who cheered his death, surely God has a plan for them and I don't think they are going to like their outcome.
