Grumpy Old White Guys,
Grumpy Old White Guys,
I did something over the
weekend that I usually only do about 3 to 4 times a year. I went to Al’s page
and read the comments on many of the postings. Why do I only do this a few
times a year? I do it because I don’t want to get too hung up on the statements
then try to tailor the opinions that I do write to the readers. I do appreciate
the comments and welcome all, positive and negative and my email address is
even posted on the website if someone wants to send me a direct message they do
not wish to share with everyone. I do read my emails most days of the week
though rarely do I check them on weekends.
The perception of
conservatives in general is that we are all just a bunch of grumpy old white
guys who refuse to …… (my favorite word lately) EVOLVE and accept and embrace
the liberal ideas for a “more perfect world”. Lenin, Mao, Marx and Hitler all
believes they were creating a more perfect world as did our forefathers. The
difference is, our forefathers did create a more perfect world by allowing the
people of the United States to hold the power and delegate it to
representatives. More importantly, they gave the people the power to remove
those representatives if they did not do the job they were elected to do, which
was nothing more than be the voice of the people whom elected them to office.
In some ways I guess I am
a grumpy old white guy because I do not like the changes I see happening.
One reader – Barb P.: I
don’t know who you are but I spent a lot of time on Sunday reflecting on many
of your comments over the past 4 months. With a name like Barb P., I don’t
believe you qualify as a “grumpy old white guy”, however I do like the way you
express yourself. Have you ever thought about writing?
Conservatives aren’t just
grumpy old white guys. If that were true, my son would be like a fish out of
water. Barb P. and my wife and many of my wife’s female friends would likewise
be like fish out of water. Poor Dr. Ben Carson, absolutely not a grumpy old
white guy, so what in the world we call him? Personally I call him a very
courageous and inspirational man willing to take the heat for expressing his
There are many who hold
conservative beliefs but do not express them; for fear of reprisal or worry
over being shunned by members of their community or for whatever reasons. I
still have my “Buck Ofama” magnet on the back of my car and I refuse to take it
off except when my wife or daughter rides in the car and I am going through
rough neighborhoods. I have been honked at, flipped off and once I had a pistol
pointed at me just for expressing my opinion through the use of that magnet.
Rarely do I drive through them except to go to my in-laws or to the VA
The point of all of this
is simple. Liberals will dismiss me, Al, Grant & Ron as nothing but
stereotypical grumpy old white guys and why not, they have been doing it for
years and have many actually believing it. Rand Paul is really the only nationally
known high profile white male trying to change that. Think about it, how many
other “white guys” have gone to an all black college and gave a speech on
conservatism and the makeup of who conservatives really are.Sure there are the Ann Coulter’s and Michelle
Malkin’s out there but it’s easy to paint them as right wing extremist. It’s
harder to paint everyday bill and house juggling housewives, working moms,
especially minorities who fit that description as right wing extremist. Write
your opinions to your local paper(s), send comments to left wing bloggers and
TV/Radio personalities. Let them know conservatives aren’t just grumpy old
white guys, they are also high school and college students, housewives, career
minded men and women of all colors, creed, sexual orientation,
Until the opinions of
conservatism is changed at the bottom, the ideas of conservatism will struggle
to be heard or felt at the top.
Fifties something guy, with a political view, but not in your face with it. Don't ask my opinion about politics if you don't want it, but I don't start conversations about it when meeting you for the first time. I have so many interests, that I don't pigeon hole into one catagory. I have written a book, and been published, it's about the care I gave my parents in their last years, it's a story of love, care, and dedication.
“Even sadder that so many of us are so blind and stupid, just living our lives daily and letting "smarter" people 'run' our lives."
"Thank God for people like you.”
“This is so horrible....how can one be so advanced and so naive at the same time..”
“Well if you were a politician, you would have my vote. I have a great deal of respect for intelligence...especially when I agree with most of your thoughts, almost visions."
"So many things 'we' stood for are getting lost and no one seems to be taking notice.”
"Your ideas, and thoughts are well researched, great job!"
"I really felt like you are really ‘in tune’ to what is really happening…so I ‘depend’ on your wisdom.. "
"Thanks for sharing all your findings Al. You have been such a big help with my decision. I knew in my heart that McCain should be our leader, but you sure made me all the more convinced…and the people I have forwarded your emails to feel the same way, I’m sure. I still think you ought to ‘run’ for an office, open some eyes around here"
I just want to thank you for being such a great American. I have always been interested in politics but now that I have a son, I really am quite interested. And to be honest, I really feel for him and what he is going to have to put up with in the future. My one saving grace is the fact that when I was his age we also had an awful President in office and fortunately the Great Ronald Reagan came riding in on his horse to save us. Hopefully in 2012 someone will come swooping in and save us. I appreciate the posts that you put on letting the world know of the crimes that most of the press won't let the world see. Well I am just in one of those moods tonight and I am rambling on but I just wanted to thank you. I would always love to get more involved in politics and if there is ever a place that you think I could come in and help please don't hesitate to ask.

My Personal Beliefs ( so you know where I'm coming from)
I believe, that the United States of America is the best country in the world bar none.
I believe, the founding fathers wrote the Constitution of our country based on their belief in Christianity, and encouraged the practice of all religions but not at the expense of the others.
I believe, the Supreme Court should interpret the Constitution and not legislate from the bench.
I believe, the Constitution is a legal document, and not a living document subjected to constant change.
I believe, the course to peace is based on strong military, strong principles, and not a pacifist denial approach.
I believe, the second amendment is the right of every citizen in our country, and people not guns are the cause of murder.
I believe, in the death penalty as a form of public compliance to our laws.
I believe, a declared “hate crime” should not just be limited to describe the victimization of one race, or religion, but should be applied equally.
I believe, taxes are necessary to run our country and benefit our citizens, and not to give to foreign governments to “buy” friendships.
I believe, the government should have no right to tax a dead man’s estate on money he has already paid taxes on.
I believe, the President should have the power of the Line Item Veto.
I believe, that Senator’s and Congressmen should have term limits the same as the other elected officials.
I believe, that Senators and Congressmen should eliminate the word “entitlements” from their vocabulary.
I believe, that taxation in our country is disproportionate according to annual salaries, and serves to polarize citizens within the system.
I believe, “Affirmative Action” is neither affirmative nor action, and should be eliminated, as it’s just another form of prejudice.
I believe, that “pork barrel” or “earmarks” should be eliminated, as they are detrimental to budgetary constraints of our country.
I believe, in a balanced budget amendment with the exception of a declaration of war.
I believe, that if it’s so easy to raise hundreds of millions of dollars for a Presidential Position that pays $400K a year, then the amount raised should be taxed.
I believe, in governing our own country, and never handing power of a New World Order to the United Nations for any treaty.
I believe, to insure the safety of our citizens, we need to secure our borders and enforce existing immigration, and hiring laws.
I believe, that English should be formally declared our official language, and should be used in business dealings at home, and English should be taught in school systems to mainstream students.
I believe, that immigrants to our country should be made to assimilate to our culture, and not the other way around.
I believe, global warming is a reality, but to declare that man made emissions are the main cause, based primarily on computer based models, is akin to believing that weathermen can predict next week’s weather based on a “preponderance of evidence.”
There is one areas I don't agree with the official Republican Platform:
I believe in Gay, and Lesbian Rights
I do not believe in same sex marriage though
I want to welcome everyone to my blog site. Everything you see is my opinion only. As we all know some sources are better then others, and when I see them as questionable, or open for conjecture, I back them up with another source. However, unfortunately, sometimes even these sources can be wrong, and if that is the case, I apologize. When researching a subject, my aim is to find the truth, and the facts and links to back it up. I don't take a position lightly, I research first and form an opinion from the collection of facts. I hope you enjoy the fruits of my research, because not everyone can devote the time to do this.......... because this work represents hours of time invested, if you copy and paste an article please insert a link back to my blog. Thanks again
