Drought is On Its Way!
Al Ritter
Oregon has already declared a drought disaster
situation and California is close behind. Experts at the NOAA are predicting
that the drought will be worse than the Dust Bowl drought of the 1930’s, and
there is no relief in sight.
The Western coastal states were hoping for some relief
this winter in the form of rain and snow but were sadly disappointed when
precipitation levels were only 25-50% of what was needed.
Water is already being diverted away from farms to
merely sustain the population.
Experts are predicting food shortages because of this
redistribution of water supplies. Farmers are already refusing to plant crops
that require large amounts of water, and in some cases not planning anything at
all.
This will have a trickle-down effect in America
causing loss of jobs, shortage of food stuffs, and increased inflation.
For some time I have always wondered why California
has been the farming capital of the US when it is in fact an arid desert state.
I understand the good weather part but the arid desert part that relies on
water reserves never made much sense to me. Add these factors to an ever
increasing population and to have a recipe for disaster.
Hopefully the Midwest and Southern States can help
make up the difference this year.

I wouldn't want to live there just because of the political climate, but here's yet another reason not to live in California!
What the hell is next?
